Review: "How To Draw Bunnies" by Anonymous

"How to Draw Bunnies" by Anonymous

So I discovered this amazing book at the gas station down the road from my home. I was in the little grocery store, way in the back where they have the two tiny tables for sitting and eating, wedged between the chips racks and the beer coolers. There were some pencil drawings spread out on the tables, with a little sign saying "FOR SALE $1". Then there was another sign that said, "HOW TO DRAW BOOK $3".

I asked about the HOW TO DRAW BOOK at the cash register. The cashier woman looked over her shoulder and called into the back room, saying, "Kaitlin, where's that how to draw book?" A young girl came out and said she thought it was back at the house. I paid for my groceries and said I'd come back in a week or so and look for the book again.

Imagine my surprise when on my next visit, I found HOW TO DRAW BUNNIES sitting out all alone on the back tables!

The cover is hand-drawn on construction paper. Hand drawn! I loved it immediately. I wanted to draw the bunnies.

Inside, each page gives you a different bunny to draw. You find Bride Bunny, Groom Bunny, Vampire Bunny, Baby Bunny, Shy Bunny, and more. Here's Groom Bunny:

Each bunny is rated with the star system. (Groom Bunny is five stars.) Each page also give helpful tips and ideas for each type of bunny. The final page is a series of scenes (church, stage, park, etc.) into which you can draw your own bunnies.

The author's enthusiasm and imagination shine clearly in this one-of-a-kind educational romp through the wonderful world of cartoon bunnies! I hope we'll see more books in this series. I also hope the author will start using ink to really nail down the clarity of the lines and characters, but I totally respect the author's commitment to hand-drawn single-copy back-table comics. This was the best three dollars I've spent on a book of cartoons in a long time!
